It really sucks, it’s probably worse than missing an early bird. Fuck probably. It is worse, way worse when you realise a great, long and healthy relationship is coming to an end. I can not say I have outgrown my Irons, nor can I say they have treated me bad. So what in kollonny am I thinking?
Well it sort of started last year. People laughed at my gear, well maybe not laughed, but pointed out the Irons where severely outdated. I can’t understand what they are talking about. My set is from 1998 … I think. I am the third owner …. yeez are we talking slut or … hey 3 partners is all ok.. I am not prejudice and to be honest, I don’t give a rats ass about what other people think. But the other day, I was going down to our playground to practice some Irish golf, met up with Mr. GreenJacket. I forgot my beloved Irons, but hey, I you want to pratice you take what is there. I ended up borrowing Snippens clubs and they felt beautiful. Then a day or two after I tested against my beloved once and I was still not convinced. However out of curiosity I posted an add on finn, just to check if this newer set (AP1 716) was available at a price way to good to leave it be.
The add paid off immediately. I was contacted and offered a very nice set of AP1 714’s by a great guy from Moss (Finn Nergård), which is just a short drive and 4 iron away from where I live. However the next day, I was offered the 716’s I was looking for. I am more than humble by their generous offers. And Mr. NiceGuy himself, Sebastian Jaksland, offered to drive across the Oslofjord to deliver the clubs to me at Drøbak Golf Course. What a guy.
The clubs had served him true and well for two seasons reducing his handicap significantly, but he had already moved on with a new set of irons. I am definitely going to challenge Mr NiceGuy to a match after I have settled in with his Ex.
I am ready to start my new relationship, but I will still keep a little more than memories of my old beloved ones. I will stick with my DCI 2-3-4 Irons. I will also hang on to the rest of them, just in case my new relationship does not work out as good as planned.
A great thanks also to Mulligan (Roffe Solberg) for letting me take over his DCI 981 and The Pro (Henrik Bjørnstad) for letting Mulligan have them after him.
