Victorious Sunday

This weekend our local golf course opened their 9-hole course, and the gods was with both me and the weather in Son.

The course kicked it off on Friday late morning, around 11.00 and Soon Golfklubb followed up by arranging their first, out of many, Friday tournaments. Ruff-Fairway was proudly represented with 3 golfers. LandLord placed tied first on the stroke play and Snippen tied for fourth, one stroke behind the winners. The Marshal got 11th place. In the points session, Snippen won and the other two guys tied for 6th.

Snippen did well on the opening tournament at Soon Golfklubb

I myself was not able to compete, due to the fact that I was horsing around. I did however manage to get in my opening round Saturday late afternoon. My golf did not scare anyone apart from myself, but that did not stop me from challenging Snippen to a duell of his choice on Sunday. The cocky invite was replied with a ruff reply. “We play MSP. Match, Stroke and Points”. Out of the blue, HebbeLille also decided to join and that is a player that loves to compete.

We tee´d it off at 1030 and already at the first tee, the match was pretty much won. With HebbeLille’s rusty safe iron not delivering and Snippen’s calm, safe and somewhat short wood, I brought out the big gun and crushed it down (or actually up) the middle of the fairway. A safe par gave me 1 up on both the other guys and although I gave them plenty of opportunities to rejoin, they never did.

I must admit that the god’s and the course was playing on my side this morning. I won all categories and played ok. There is definitely room for improvement, but all in all a good opening match. HebbeLille won his match against Snippen and also the strokes. When it comes to points between them, I have no clue who placed behind other than they both did. Competition aside, it is always enjoyable playing golf with some Ruff-Riders.

The course was good for being end of march. Greens had some fungus, not suited for eating, but despite looking yellow and green, the surface on the greens were smooth and level, a little long and slow but smooth as a smoothie.

To top it off and make Snippen’s day a Sunday to forget, Liverpool went on to beat Tottenham and they also had the bounce on their side. Lucky home bounces both for Liverpool and me, he will conclude. We won, we were best, I will conclude.
